CUC History
Since opening operations in 2003, CUC has served clients in Fort Saskatchewan and surrounding areas throughout many economic cycles. As an organization we offer flexible, client driven services that assist clients with varying levels of barriers, from a variety of demographics. The barriers with this client group can include a lack of local labour market information, lack of training or certification and/or emotional and physical barriers to obtaining and retaining gainful employment. The continued success of this program has been noted in the community with CUC receiving the award for Best Customer Service for the community service industry in 2010, awarded by the Fort Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce, this speaks volumes about the care and consideration that our staff members provide the Fort Saskatchewan community. As well, in 2013, CUC was once again awarded by the Fort Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce, the Employer of Choice award which recognizes our outstanding business practices and strong staff morale that fosters the services we provided clientele.
CUC has maintained active member status with the Fort Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce since We also have been a member of the EARN (Employee, Attraction, Retention Network) planning committee. In partnership with Alberta Human Services and the Fort Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce, the committee planned and organized successful events for employers in the Fort Saskatchewan community to address employer specific staffing needs.
CUC regularly participates in local trade fairs and employer focused events to connect with businesses and community members to ensure that labour market linkages are continually updated and maintained. The events have included but were not limited to: Annual Fort Saskatchewan Trade Show, Neighbour Day, Life in Heartland Industry Nights, Chamber on Tap networking events, industry open houses, Annual Redwater Business Mixer, and Alberta Industrial Heartland Association Stakeholder Event. These working relationships with employers and committees promote hiring opportunities for our clients and provide access to job leads from these employers.
Over our 15 years of operation in Fort Saskatchewan CUC has organized and hosted many Employer Connection events. These Employer Connection events ranged from oil and gas industries, hospitality, restaurant services, customer service, and professional services. CUC provides advertising, facility usage, nd event organization that serves to assist employers in their recruitment needs. As a result of these Employer Connections events numerous clients and job seekers were able to find and obtain immediate employment, and employers were able to save time and hire effective staff on the spot and fill job openings.
